Micellar waters have taken the beauty world by storm over the last twelve months thanks to the infamous french brand Bioderma. It has to be one of, if not thee most hyped skincare product of all time and although I liked it, I didn't love it. It removes makeup brilliantly but I also found it made my skin tingle and look red after use. Never a good sign! With this being said, I turned my attentions to another Micellar water - Caudalie Cleansing Water. Since trying it, I haven't looked back. Its an absolute pleasure to use and my skin loves it. It removes my makeup just as efficiently as Bioderma but instead of leaving my skin red and sore, it refreshes, soothes and wakes up my entire face. If my skin is looking a bit lack-lustre, I know a swipe of Caudalie will help perk it up. It also smells of grapes which I personally love and find very refreshing. So as you can tell, I love me some Caudalie. I was pretty convinced that it was my no.1 micellar water and nothing else could compare. However, due to its high price tag (its only down fall), it was becoming an expensive addiction to keep up with.
Before my recent holiday to Portugal, my beloved Caudalie cleansing water came to an end *sob* and I didn't have time to order a new one before I went away - total disaster. I decided to have a browse around duty free at the airport to see if I could get my mitts on another bottle but much to my disappointment, there wasn't a Caudalie counter in site. That's when I spotted the Loreal Skin Perfection Micellar Solution staring me in the face, willing me to buy it. When I saw the £3.33 price tag, I was immediately sold. I tried it for the first time when I arrived in Portugal and on first impressions, I was seriously impressed. I applied a small amount to the centre of a cotton pad, worked the solution around my face and as the bottle states, it dissolved my makeup. Within a matter of minutes my makeup had vanished and my skin was left feeling fresh. The product has no scent which I'm not particuarly bothered by - it it doesn't have the lovely grape scent of Caudalie but hey, its only a scent after all. No biggy!
Another thing I love about this product is that it acts as a toner too so I'm getting a double whammy cleanse and tone in one. I don't always use this alone as I know its frowned upon to not 'double cleanse' and what not. However, if I'm in a rush in the morning, this does a decent job at removing any grime and dirt from my skin without the need for a second cleanse. Lets face it, when I'm rolling out of bed at 7am for work, the last thing I want to do is a laborious skin care routine with five hundered different steps. Much like all micellar waters, the reason I love this product so much is because its quick to use, its convenient when I'm in a rush and it does exactly what it says on the bottle - removes my makeup. Think of it as a fancy face wipe if you will.
Overall I adore this product and will 100% repurchase. In my opinion its better than Bioderma as it doesn't sting my skin or cause any sensitivity, it removes my makeup very quickly and effectively (even stubborn mascara), its cheap as chips and available to buy on the high street. Whats not to love? I still love my Caudalie Cleansing Water but as its around 5x more expensive than the Loreal version, I'll be regarding it as a treat from now on.
Don't you just love finding a high-street dupe of your favourite high-end product? Have you tried this micellar water? What do you think?
Lots of Love,
I'm pretty sure you've just sold this to me! I love bioderma but the price tag and fact I have to buy it online is so annoying so this sounds perfect, thanks for the review lovely! Xxx

DeleteI really want to try this brand. If its as good as Bioderma (or even better like you said) then I am willing to give it a shot and compare it :)

I prefer it to Bioderma myself as I found it more gentle on my skin but I guess it comes down to people's own personal preference!! Its definitely worth a try though as the two are very similar and this one is much cheaper :) xxx.
DeleteI have compared both Bioderma and the l'oreal miceller water on my blog! I most certainly prefer bioderma!

I've tried Bioderma Sèbium and it's my favorite. I've also tried other brands like La Roche Posay or Vichy but I still preffer Bioderma, except for the price... I want to try this Loreal Micellar solution to compare.

I'm curious...is this like a toner??

Looks like an awesome product, I've heard so many people talk about how good L'Oreal's skincare range is, I'll have to have a nosy next time I'm in Boots :)

I've tried both this and Bioderma and I found Bioderma made my eye really sore when I accidentally got a bit in it. The L'Oreal one I must say is pretty good, it's nearly always on offer too :)

There's gonna be a massive increase in sales with this micellar water after every blogger gets one haha :P but this has SOLD across it as 1. i've never tried any biodermas etc & 2. i can't beat that price tag - seriously £3.33 that's probably going to be the cheapest skincare item i may buy ever haha :P

I really want to try this stuff! But I don't think it's sold in the US...
ReplyDeletexx- missmacbeauty.blogspot.com
I love this one too, it's better than B.Pure's version and it's such a bargain. I bought Bioderma on holiday and really like it but why does it have to be so expensive :( It's a shame it didn't suit your skin either :(
ReplyDeletexx
I have tried it and really like it. I did a comparison review of both, but for me Bioderma still nudges ahead slightly because of how impossibly clean it makes your skin feel and also because the L'Oreal packing is rubbish. Xx

I'm using Bioderma right now and I've been loving it!
ReplyDeleteWill definitely try this out if it's similar :)

I was in a similar predicament as you! I swear by dermalogica precleanse but when it ran out I couldn't afford to order it again. Soooo I tried this l'oreal one. It does effectively remove my makeup but I have only had it two weeks and its almost gone already!! Costing a little over €4 it doesn't break the bank but if I have to spend €8 a month on it I may as well splash out on the dermalogica, as it lasts almost 9 months! I also find the l'oreal is a little harsh on my skin, but maybe that's just because I have really sensitive skin. I would recommend it as a short term solution until you can purchase a precleanse oil as I find the oils last longer than the waters and they are more gentle to the skin.

Will definitely have to give this a go when my bioderma runs out!
