On Sunday I headed to my friend Lauren (check out her blog By Lauren Jane) Andrew's house in Leeds for Andy's 30th birthday BBQ! I spent quite some time before the day debating over what I'd wear as I'm never sure how dressed up or casual to go to daytime events. However, Dorothy Perkins came to the rescue with this outfit and I was really pleased with how it turned out.
I went for a smart casual look with the main focus of the outfit being these fabulous Khaki Fern Print trousers. I'm a huge fan of the colour khaki and find it really flattering on my skin tone so I was instantly drawn to these on the Dorothy Perkins website. The print is fairly bold and I was a bit unsure if I could pull off such a statement piece at first but I'm glad I decided to go for it as I really love them.
I decided to pair the trousers with another khaki piece, this floaty cami top with a dipped hem. I really love tops like this and they're must-haves in my wardrobe as they can be dressed up or down and worn for so many occasions. I already know this top will look great my a pair of skinny jeans and heels or a pair of denim shorts and sandals on a hot Summer's day!
I usually wear heels no matter where I'm going as they make me feel more ladylike and these beige strappy sandals are absolutely perfect! I love how they dress up the outfit without making it look too dressy and I also love the fact they're so comfy - not an easy quality to find in a pair of heels! The beige colour is great too as it means they'll go with so virtually everything in my wardrobe. I can see these becoming my go-to Summer shoe!
To finish the look, I added a black fedora hat and a cream kettle handbag with black and tan detailing. Again, these are both staple pieces that will go with so many thing in my wardrobe and I already know I'll get loads of wear out of them. I also think they tie this particular look together perfectly!
If you haven't checked out the Dorothy Perkins site recently, I'd highly recommend you head on over there. I've always been a big fan of the brand but I feel they've really upped their game recently. I'm sure I'll be adding more pieces from their range to my Summer wardrobe!
Are you a fan of this look?
