When I heard that Too Faced had released a contour palette, I just knew I had to have it. Let's just say I wasn't blessed with perfectly chiseled cheekbones so my face definitely needs a bit of help in that area! Too Faced are famous for their bronzers and buttery soft powders too so I was pretty sure it would be a high quality palette. Plus, I'm always drawn in by Too Faced's lovely packaging - isn't it all so pretty?
The new Cocoa Contour Chiseled to Perfection palette* contains four shades, all of which can be used together or separately to create your perfect contoured look. There's two contouring powders - medium cocoa and dark cocoa as well as two highlight shades - light cocoa and pop of light. Medium cocoa is an ashy brown shade and dark cocoa is more of a true bronze shade with a slight orange undertone. Light Cocoa is a matte off-white highlighting shade which can be used to highlight under eye area and Pop of Light is a shimmery highlight which can be used on the tops of the cheekbones or other areas of the face you wish to highlight. The palette also includes a small angled kabuki brush which is surprisingly good and works well with the powders. Also, as you can probably guess by the name of the palette - the powders smell like chocolate. Yum!
The quality of the powders is fantastic. They're buttery soft, highly pigmented and so easy to blend into the skin. My favourite of the two contouring shades would have to be medium cocoa as it looks very natural on my pale skin tone and because of the ash undertones, it creates a nice shadow under the cheekbone to give them that sculpted look. I do really like dark cocoa too but I'd use this more as a bronzer than a contour as I do feel it's slightly too orange toned to work well as a contour product. However, if you have a more olive skin tone than me, this would possibly work well for you. In terms of the highlighting shades, my favourite of the two would be light cocoa as it's perfect to set under eye concealer as well as brighten that area to give me that Kim Kardashian look. However, Pop of light highlighter is also lovely for adding a bit of shimmer to the cheeks as it has a hint of gold glitter running through it. All in all, there isn't one shade in the whole palette I won't get use from.
Another thing I love about this palette is that it's great for travelling with. Rather than needing to carry a bronzer, contouring powder, under eye powder and a highlighter around with me - I can take this one palette and be good to go.It also has a large mirror in the lid of the palette meaning it's great for on the go touch ups. It also comes with a handy little booklet that includes three looks you can create with the palette. They're named the 'Instant Contour', 'Skinny Sculpt' and 'Celebrity Contour' and each of them show you where to place the contour and highlighting products to achieve the look. I think this is great as it helps those who aren't experienced with contouring to get full potential from the palette.
If you're a fan of contouring and highlighting, I'd definitely recommend checking this palette out. It's available to buy from the Too Faced website here and it only costs £28.00 which seems very reasonable for four high quality powders and a brush. I can't wait to play around with it some more and hopefully after a bit more practice I'll have cheekbones to rival a supermodel. Okay, maybe not.
Do you like the look of this palette?
I am THE biggest contour fan so I need this!!

Looks like a lovely product, it's totally on my wishlist after reading your review. The dark cocoa looks like a less good shade as it's so orangey, but the other three look so appealing! xo Romy

Love this review Kayleigh! I can't seem to handle it when a contour palette has more than 2 shades, I always stick to my trusty Sleek contour kit or a chubby stick but I think I will need to give this a try. Are there any other too faced products that you would highly recommend? :) xx
ReplyDeleteI do love the look of this palette but of course anybody would, it's too faced. I love your post and I think you explained this really well. I think this product has been added to my wish list:-)

I'm starting to appreciate contour and highlighting a bit more now (I blame the whole Kim K and taking it too far out of hand for all the negative feedback). I still haven't committed to purchasing a contour palette yet, but this one looks amazing! You can't go wrong with Too Faced products.
