Tonga Towers Hotel & Suites | A Girly Trip To Mallorca

Last month, myself and one of my best friends Lauren jetted off to Mallorca to spend a few girly days together in the sun. As the weather gets more and more grim here in the UK - I couldn't wait to get away to a bit of sunshine! After looking at hotels for weeks and constantly changing our mind about where we wanted to stay, we finally decided on BG Tonga Towers Hotel & Suites in Can'Picafort - an area of Mallorca I've never visited before. The hotel is 4* and we booked through On The Beach on an all inclusive basis.

We arrived at Palma airport after an easy two hour flight from Manchester and were greeted with lovely warm weather. I was a little concerned going away in October would mean slightly cooler weather than I'm used to but honestly, it was perfect. The hotel was a 45 minute taxi ride from the airport and cost around 70 euros between us which we didn't think was too bad. However, there is an option of a bus transfer which is much cheaper but it does take quite a bit longer to get there so I guess it depends whether you'd rather save money or have a quicker journey.

When we arrived at the hotel, I was immediately impressed. It has a huge modern reception area and we were greeted by friendly staff. Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived but we were told we'd been upgraded to one of the suites which was a lovely treat. Whilst waiting for our room, we decided to have a look around the hotel and see what was on offer. Our first stop was the restaurant as lunch was still being served when we arrived and we hadn't eaten a great deal since leaving for the airport at 4am that morning. I was SO impressed with the restaurant - my first thought was how lovely and modern it was - everything was well presented and it looked really clean and well looked after. I was also blown away by the amount of food on offer. They had everything you could think of and a huge selection of hot and cold food as well as any drinks you can think of, including most alcoholic drinks which can often be quite limited on all inclusive deals.

We then headed out to the pool area and for me, this was the real star of the show. When we booked, the photos online looked lovely but they didn't do this outdoor area any justice at all. There was a huge main pool, a smaller pool and a large jacuzzi pool, a kids pool and activity area, a massage area and not to mention the rooftop hot tub but we'll get to that soon. There was also a huge bar with indoor and outdoor searing, comfortable sun loungers and four poster beds as well as an outdoor buffet area that served a beautiful selection of Italian food at lunch time. Our first stop was the bar where we enjoyed Mojitos and Pina Coladas whilst soaking up the scorching sunshine. It was absolutely beautiful and the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Shortly after enjoying our cocktails, our room was ready and we couldn't wait to see what it was like. We were on the twelfth floor and had a pool view room so things were already sounding promising before we'd actually seen the room itself. In all honestly, when I'm away on holiday, I do like to have a nice hotel room. I know it doesn't bother some people as you don't spend a great deal of time there but for me, it has to be modern, clean and comfortable. Luckily, the Tonga Towers Hotel & Suites was all that and more. We walked into a spacious room with a huge king size bed, seating area with coffee and tea making facilities, a modern bathroom with bath and walk in shower, a huge plasma TV on the wall and a balcony overlooking the pool area. The colour scheme was blue and white and had a lovely serene feel about it. We couldn't have been happier!

Another aspect of the hotel I just have to tell you about is the rooftop bar and hot tub. On the 14th floor, there was an adults only bar, restaurant and hot tub area and its where Lauren and I spent a good percentage of our holiday as it was just so lovely and relaxing, had amazing views and was nice and quiet due to the adults only rule. As you can see from my photos, it was absolutely beautiful up there and the views were stunning! We enjoyed cocktails in the hot tub, sunbathed and even had a meal up there one evening, which again, was included in the all inclusive package.

Another couple of things I'd like to mention about the hotel are the nightly entertainment and the entertainment staff as they were just awesome. Every night the hotel puts on some kind of entertainment in the bar area and when we were there, we went and watched 'movie night' which involved the entertainment team dancing to various songs from well known movies! It was highly entertaining and Lauren and I had a good giggle watching it. The staff go so out of their way to ensure everyone is having a good time and they would often come and ask us if we wanted to be involved in their day time activities too. Lauren and I were there to just chill out but if you're the type of person that likes having something to do every day, the team at Tonga Towers will have you covered! There was also a spa in the hotel which offered pretty much every treatment you can think of so there really is something for everyone.

So now I've covered the hotel, let me tell you a little bit about the location and what there is nearby. Lauren and I decided before we went away that we'd like to go out for dinner at least one of the nights we were there so somewhere with restaurants nearby was important. Luckily, Tonga Towers was only a five minute taxi ride away from the marina which had a selection of beautiful restaurants and cocktail bars, as well as stunning views over the marina. We went to a restaurant called 'Marisco' one night we were there and it was absolutely amazing - as you can see from my photos, the nautical decor was stunning and the food and drink were equally as good. I could have quite happily eaten there every single night and the berry mojito the waiter kindly made for me was delicious! I wouldn't say Can'Picafort is a place to visit if you're looking for somewhere to go out and party but if you're going away on a couples holiday, for a relaxing girly break or as a family, it's the perfect destination.

Overall, I'd highly recommend Tonga Towers Hotel & Suites to anyone and I'd love to go back myself and explore the place a little bit more. If this looks like somewhere you'd like to visit, you can book through On The Beach here. Lets face it, as soon as Winter rolls around, we're already dreaming about next years Summer holidays so this could be one to consider!!
