My Top Three Under Eye Brighteners

When it comes to my makeup routine, there's a few items that I just can't go without. Brows are a must have, as is mascara. My face doesn't feel complete without them. However, one item I rarely leave the house without, which may come as a bit of a surprise, is an under eye brightener. When I say under eye brightener, I basically mean a brightening concealer / highlighter to help give me a more wide awake look.

Seriously, a bit of brightness under my eyes and I'm ready to face the world. I'd actually rather go with no foundation than nothing under my eyes - is that strange? Anyway, there's a few under eye brighteners that are regulars in my makeup bag and ones I would or already have repurchased so I thought I'd share them with you guys. Keep reading to find out a little bit more about them!

MAC Prep & Prime HighlighterThis was one of the first under-eye brightening products I ever tried and I haven't looked back since. I remember buying this after reading so many rave reviews on blogs/youtube and I'm so glad I did as it really is an amazing product. As you can see, this is a pen style highlighter and the packaging is really convenient as you simply twist the bottom of the pen and the product is dispensed onto the brush so you can apply it directly on to the area you want it.

The shade I have is 'Light Boost' which is the most yellow toned of the four shades available. I personally find Yellow tones work best with my skin tone as they really help to achieve that bright look. I usually apply this in a V shape under my eyes, down the centre of my nose and a little bit on the centre of my forehead and chin to brighten the whole area. This probably has the thickest consistency of all of these products but it's by no means cakey and it doesn't feel heavy on the skin.

bareMinerals bareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer; This is a fairly new release from bareMinerals and I was kindly sent it a couple of months ago to try out. Since then I've used the whole thing and am definitely going to repurchase it. As the name of the product states, this is a serum concealer so it has the most beautiful consistency that feels so lightweight on the skin whilst still providing amazing coverage.

I use the shade Light in this one and I find this shade really helps to cover dark circles as well as brighten as it has a slightly more peachy undertone which helps to cancel out any discolouration. However, it still works amazing for brightening too so don't let that put you off. It's just not quite a Yellow as the MAC one, as you can see from my swatches below.

bareMinerals also say that this features 'high-definition mineral optics to counteract shadows and give skin a brightened, lustrous finish'. I would definitely agree with that as it does give a completely flawless finish to the skin. I almost wish there was a foundation version with the same formula as I'd definitely put this all over my face if I could.

Maybelline Eraser Eye ConcealerThis is the cheapest of my three favourites so perfect for those of you who are on a tighter budget but still want something really effective. Much like the MAC Prep & Prime, this is another product I purchased after hearing so many positive things about it. I did have my reservations at first as I've never really got on with drugstore concealers in the past but this one is absolutely amazing!

The packaging is unlike anything I've ever seen before - to get the product out of the bottle, you twist the top and it comes out onto the attached sponge. Apparently this is called a micro-corrector applicator as it micro-fills and smoothes the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines. I know a few people think this method of application is a bit unhygienic but I personally love it as I find the products applies nice and smooth and I've never had any issues with breakouts.

I have the shade Light which is very similar in colour to the bareMinerals concealer. I do tend to go for the lightest shade available when it comes to these kind of products as I have quite naturally pale skin and find the lightest shades help to brighten rather than just blend in with the rest of my skin tone. As I mentioned earlier, I find this product really smooths my under eye area and the applicator is very gentle meaning there's no pulling or tugging on the skin. It also blends beautifully and leaves a seamless finish. It's definitely the best drugstore concealer I've used and one I'd 100% recommend.

So there we have it, my top three products to brighten the under eye area. If you haven't tried any of them and are looking for something similar, I can't recommend them enough. They're all must-haves for me!

Have you tried these products? What's your favourite product to brighten your under-eye area?

The Perfect Spring Dress

Hey guys! I hope you’re all well and had a lovely weekend. I have to apologise for my lack of blog posts at the moment – I’m in the middle of buying a house and it’s been a little bit stressful to say the least. I always knew it wasn’t going to be an easy process but when your dream house is at arms length and then you’re told you might not be able to have it, it’s pretty devastating. With this being said, I haven’t been feeling up to blogging as my mind has been all over the place and every time I come to write a post, I seem to get a mental block. However, after a bit more positive news and process with the house buying plus a relaxing weekend at home with family, I’m feeling a lot better and ready to get back to blogging.

Anyway, life rambles aside, today I want to share a dress I’ve been absolutely loving at the moment and one that is definitely going to be one of my most worn this season. If you read my blog regularly, you may have seen this post where I shared some fabulous Australian fashion brands with the brand Tiger Mist being one of them. I’m a big fan of their clothing and if you’re looking for some on trend Summer clothes, you need to check out their website. I can feel a bit of a splurge coming on before my holiday in June!!

The tan dress I’m wearing in these photos was kindly sent to me a while ago and I’ve been loving it ever since so I thought it was about time it featured on my blog. As I’m sure you can see, it’s a super cute little suede dress in a gorgeous tan shade which is one of my favourite colours to wear throughout the Summer months. It’s quite possibly one of the most comfortable dresses I own too – the fabric is so soft! I also love the shape as it’s really flattering on my figure. I love anything that synches me in at the waist and isn’t too tight on my hips so this is perfect. As well as the colour and shape, I also love the lace up detailing on the front as it adds an interesting bit of detail to an otherwise fairly plain dress.

I also love that it’s one of those dresses that can be dressed up or down as I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of it both day and night. I’d wear it during the day with a nice pair of sandals for a more casual look or in the evening with some heels and a clutch for a more glam look. I paired it with my favourite Missguided heels in these photos as I love wearing tan and white together – it’s the perfect Summer colour combo. I’m also wearing my Miss Pap aviator sunglasses as low and behold, we’ve actually had some nice weather lately. Yay!!

So that's just a quick post from me today to share one of my Summer wardrobe faves! If you like it too, you can grab it online here for $89.95 (just less than £50). I know that seems pricey for a dress but it's definitely worth it and the price is reflected in the beautiful quality of the dress.

Have you ever shopped at Tiger Mist?!!

New Benefit Hoola Product Launches

I feel like Benefit are really on it when it comes to new products launches - they always seem to be releasing new and exciting products and their recent launch comes in perfect timing so we can all look sun-kissed and faux that glow all Summer long. I'm sure you've all heard of Benefit's Hoola bronzer as it's one of their most popular products and for good reason too - it's an amazing matte bronzer that's perfect for contouring and generally warming up the whole complexion!

With this being said, you can imagine my excitement when I found out Benefit were releasing three more Hoola products to sit alongside the bronzer! I actually first heard talks about there being some new Hoola products at a Benefit event earlier on in the year so I'm so pleased they're finally here and I can share them with you all as I just know they're going to be such a popular choice this Summer. The three new products are all designed around tanning, faking that Summer glow and perfecting the complexion and lets face it, who doesn't want all of those things? There's two new beauty products and also a brush designed to use for bronzing yourself up with their well-loved Hoola bronzing powder. The two products are named Hoola Zero Tanlines and Dew The Hoola, whilst the brush doesn't really have a name and is instead branded as the Hoola bronzing and contouring brush.

Before I get on to explaining the products and what they do in a little more detail, can we please discuss the packaging? Oh my goodness, I just love it. It screams Summer! The original Hoola box has a bamboo design and I love how Benefit have kept that consistent with the three new products,  as well as a splash of colour from the exotic looking palm tree print.  So, now we've talked names and packaging, it's time to discuss the products themselves!

First up we have Hoola Zero Tanlines which is a body bronzer or in more simple terms, an instant fake tan. If any of you used to be a big fan of Rimmel Sun Shimmer (I know I was!), then this will be right up your street as it has a similar concept with a nicer and less streaky (aka rain/spilled drink resistant) formula. Benefit say this is a 'hands free' bronzer because of the nifty little sponge that's built into the lid of the product. As always, Benefit don't do things by halves when it comes to their packaging.

I have to admit, I do find it a little unnecessary as the sponge isn't that big and therefore can't cover large areas of the body very quickly or easily. I'd personally rather stick to a tanning kit but that's just my personal preference. The product itself is a very dark brown liquid (again, think Rimmel Sun Shimmer, just slightly thinner) and when blended into the skin, it provides a subtle bronze and dewy look. I also found that it applied nicely with no streaks which is definitely a good thing when it comes to tanning products. Benefit say this will last on the skin for 12 hours and won't transfer to clothing so again, this is another bonus.

However, part of me thinks I'd rather use a normal fake tan that doesn't wash off. If I'm going to make the effort to tan myself, I want it to last so with this being said, this product probably isn't something I'd rush out to buy. It will definitely come in handy on those spontaneous nights out when I need an instant tan that won't streak at the sight of some rain but it definitely isn't an essential in my opinion.

Next up is Dew The Hoola and this is a liquid face bronzer designed to give your face an all year round glow. When I first swatched this product on my wrist, I was concerned at how Orange it looked but as you can see from the image above, when blended in, it has a much more subtle look. Unlike Zero Tanlines, this is a product I can see myself getting much more use out of. I don't tend to like using regular false tan on my face as I find it can go patchy, not do anything at all or break me out. However, as this product is designed for the face, those things are much less likely to happen.

The formula is a liquid similar to that of a liquid foundation and it has a matte finish meaning it won't make your face look like a glitter ball after application. Benefit say it has smoothing effects meaning it will give your complexion a more flawless finish but unless I was on holiday and wanted to enhance my natural tan. I'd be more likely to use it under my foundation to add an extra bit of colour. It's a great product for those times when you've tanned your body and want your face to have some more colour too as it will make the skin a couple of shades darker without looking unnatural. However, I wouldn't advise using this on your face with no tan on the body as it would probably look a little odd!

Finally we have the bronzing and contouring brush which is probably my favourite of the three new products as I'm a bit of a sucker for a makeup brush and this one is just so beautiful! As you can see, it has a gold bamboo style handle which is super pretty and the bristles are a black and mint green ombre (if that's how you would describe it?!). Not to mention it's ridiculously soft - I spent a good few minutes just rubbing this on my cheeks when I first received it in the post. Okay, that sounds weird - you know what I'm trying to say! It's really blooming soft and for that reason, I love it.

As well as being super soft, it's the perfect brush to use for bronzer, face powder or blush. I wouldn't really say it's a contouring brush as the bristles aren't dense enough for precise contouring but it's perfect to use with bronzer when you just want to dust it around your face to create some warmth. The bristles aren't too big so you can get some control with it, just not enough as I'd like when it comes to contouring as I prefer to use something a little more structured like an angled brush. However, as I'm someone who only makes the effort to contour for nights out, this really doesn't bother me too much.

Overall I'd say these are lovely new additions to go alongside the Hoola bronzer and if you're a bit of a tanning addict, I'm sure you're going to love them. For me, I wouldn't say they're going to become essential parts of my beauty routine but they're definitely nice products to have in my collection and ones I'll get lots of use out of this Summer to ensure I'm always nice and bronzer.

You can buy them all from various online retailers or at Benefit counters. Zero Tanlines is priced at £19.50, Dew the Hoola is £22.50 and the brush is £17.50.

Do you like the look of these products?!

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipsticks

As I'm sure you all know by now, lipstick is my weakness. Especially beautiful packaged lipsticks like the YSL Rouge Volupte's. I still remember buying my first one and cherishing it like it was the crown jewels. The gold packaging and the beautiful logo wrapped around a band of colour which represents the colour of the lipstick inside is just so beautiful. Basically, it's what makeup packaging dreams are made of and in my opinion, one that can't be beaten. With this being, you can imagine my excitement when five of YSL's brand spanking new Rouge Volupte lipsticks arrived at my door. Such a dream!

I already owned three YSL lipsticks prior to receiving this lovely lot but until now, I'd never tried one of the shine formulas. I think the reason for that is because I'm not usually a fan of sheer lipsticks as they don't tend to be all that pigmented and if I'm spending a lot of money on makeup, I want it to be something that will actually show up on me. However, since trying these lipsticks, I may have been converted as they're so beautiful to wear!

The texture of them is amazing - they feel so moisturising on the lips and provide a nice wash of colour without being too heavy for day wear. They also have the most lovely glossy finish which I personally love as I'm not keen on matte lips. I also have to mention the scent as they smell like watermelon - seriously, they're good enough to eat.

L-R: #41 Corail A Porter, #43 Rose Rive Gauche, #45 Rouge Tuxedo, #46 Orange Perfecto & #47 Beige Blouse

In terms of shades, due to their more sheer finish, they're all so wearable and would suit all skin tones. As you can see from my swatches, they're all beautiful shades for S/S and there isn't one I wouldn't wear. At the moment my favourite is Beige Blouse which is a beautiful dusky pink and the perfect 'my lips but better' shade. It's been coming everywhere with me recently and even made an appearance on my Snapchat as my current fave lipstick so if you follow me on there (@kayljcouture) you may have seen it. I think the other shades will be perfect for the Summer months as they all fall into the peach/orange and pink colour family.

Overall I'd say these lipsticks are beautiful and would recommend anyone to try them, especially if you like lip products that also moisturise your lips and have a glossy finish. Not to mention look beautiful sat on your dressing table!

You can buy them here for £26.00 each here and from YSL counters nationwide.

Frank Body Skincare Routine | The Scrub, Balm & Cream

If you use Instagram a lot (guilty!) then I'm going to guess you've probably seen Australian brand Frank Body pop up on your explore page. With an impressive 681,000 followers on their account, it's safe to say they're a pretty big deal and a brand I was super excited to try out after hearing nothing but good reviews from fellow bloggers. I was kindly sent a selection of their products and after giving them a whirl, I want to share my thoughts.

I have to start by discussing the packaging as I think it has to be my all time favourite when it comes to body products. I love the brown paper bags, the fonts and zig zag design, the pastel shades and the quirky quotes! Everything about it is cute, girly and fun. It's the kind of packaging you want to show off in your bathroom or on your dressing table! Also, I just want to mention that the brown paper bags do re-seal so once you've opened them, you don't have to worry about them going all over the place as that was my initial worry when I saw them. You also get a LOT of product in those bags - it's pretty deceiving. Frank say you'll get at least 8-10 fully body scrubs per pack. Yay!

The brand are most well known for their coffee body scrub which is made with natural ingredients that will scrub away dry, flaky skin and also help with conditions like cellulite and stretch marks. I must admit, exfoliating my body is definitely something I don't do enough but this product really makes you want to do it as it leaves the skin feeling so damn soft and radiant. Coffee is obviously the star of the show in this product and whilst it's not something I enjoy drinking, I know it's a popular ingredient in skincare products so it obviously has its benefits.

Frank says it will stimulate blood flow targeting cellulite, stretch marks, psoriasis, varicose veins, eczema, acne, and scarring. As well as all that, ingredients like almond oil and vitamin E work to nourish and hydrate the skin. There's nothing worse than scrubs that feel like they strip the skin of all moisture but this one has a great balance of removing dry skin whilst remaining gentle.

As well as the coffee scrub, Frank also offer a coconut version which is apparently slightly more gentle on sensitive skins. It has the same coffee beans as the original scrub, only this one also has grape seed and coconut oil as well as jojoba beans which ensure the skin is hydrated and moisturised after use. I personally can't tell the difference between the two scrubs in terms of their performance - they're equally as lovely. However, if you have dry or sensitive skin, the ingredients in this scrub are probably more suited to your needs.

Frank recommend following up their scrubs with their Body Balm which will hydrate and nourish skin and continue to treat problem areas after you've scrubbed! I was really intrigued by this product as I've never used a body balm before and the texture is really different to your traditional body lotions and creams. As you can see from the swatch above, it's a clear balm and when blended into the skin, it leaves a beautiful sheen. I was slightly worried it might feel sticky as that's what I instantly think when thinking of a balm but that's not the case at all - it sinks in really well and is actually a lot easier to blend than most other body products I've tried. It also smells lovely!

Much like Frank's other products, the body balm contains lots of amazing ingredients including coconut, grapeseed, coffee arabica and almond oil which all work together to provide the skin with a whole host of benefits like increased hydration, protection from environmental damage, repair for dry and damaged skin as well as helping to tone and tighten the skin. Much like the scrub, it also works to increase the blood flow and therefore improve the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, psoriasis, eczema and acne. Beeswax also provides a long-lasting protective coating that shields your skin from the outside elements. So basically, it has everything you could want from a body product - it really is a bit of a wonder balm as it has so many benefits.

The final product I was sent is their body cream and this is a more rich and indulgent cream in comparison to the light body balm. I have to be honest, I personally prefer the balm as it's quicker to apply and I find it's something I can easily use every day. However, this is still a lovely product and if you're someone who suffers with dry skin, this is probably better suited to you as it contains shea and cacao butters which are super nourishing on the skin. It also contains coffee seed extract, pomegranate and green tea, all of which will encourage collagen production and protect the skin from environmental damage, moisture loss and dryness. So if you have dry skin - this cream will become your new best friend!

Overall I'd say these are really lovely products and I'd highly recommend them, especially if you like to use natural products on your skin. If you do decide to try them, let me know what you think!

Outfit | Bombers & Basics

When bomber jackets first became a 'thing' again, I have to say, I hated them. I just didn't see the appeal at all - a big, padded jacket that makes me look twice the size I am, no thanks. It just didn't appeal to me in the slightest. However, it now seems there's no escaping them as they're all over the high street and online stores! With this being said, I thought it was time to embrace the bomber and give one a try.

I decided to get the one I'm wearing in this post from Megan Mckenna's new Miss Pap collection as I love anything Khaki and loved the zip detailing. Plus, it didn't look too padded which is what usually puts me off this style. Much to my surprise, I actually love this jacket! It isn't as padded as other bomber jackets I've seen which makes it's so easy to wear as a casual day to day jacket. It goes with so many things in my wardrobe and I love that it has bright Orange lining on the inside.

I decided to pair the bomber with a fairly basic outfit but sometimes, basic is best. You can't go wrong with a pair of black ripped skinny jeans - they're a staple piece in my wardrobe all year round as they go with so much and can be dressed up or down. I can't even remember where these ones are from as I've had them for so long but I've found some similar ones for you online here if you fancy investing in a pair for yourself (which I'd highly recommend if you don't already own a pair).

I'm also a big fan of basic tops as once again, they can be dressed up or down and are so versatile. I'm wearing this off the shoulder bodysuit from In The Style in these images and I absolutely love it. I'm obsessed with all things neutral at the moment so I love the nude colour and it's so comfortable too. I'd definitely wear this in the evening as well - it would look fab with a little leather skirt.

To finish off the look, I wore my favourite Missguided strappy heels which literally go with everything and I can already tell they're going to be my Summer shoe of choice! White heels and a tan = perfect combo. As always, I also finished the look with my beloved small Givenchy Antigona bag. It's come everywhere with me since I bought it so I'm definitely getting my moneys worth. It's the perfect neutral colours so it goes with pretty much everything and I think it works really well with this outfit. I also really liked how it looked slung over my shoulder with the longer strap!

I hope you guys like this look - let me know what you think in the comments below!

Are you a fan of the bomber jacket?

UNiDAYS #StudentBreakSquad Box ft Public Desire, Michael Kors, Pretty Little Thing & More

In my opinion, one of the best things about being a student (other than bettering my education of course) would have to be the student discount. Now my uni days are long gone, student discount is a thing of the past and I have to say, I really miss it. Gone are the days of placing huge Topshop orders as soon as my student loan arrived - sob! With this being said, I was very excited when UNiDAYS asked me to be involved in their new #StudentBreakSquad campaign so I can share some amazing offers with those of your who are still studying  - I'm very jealous!

If you've not heard of UNiDAYS before, they're a free discount site that offer students hundreds of amazing deals on leading high street and online retailers that can be used both in-store and online. You name a brand and they're more than likely part of UNiDAYS - there's discounts on everything from fashion and beauty to experience days, gadgets (*cough* Macbook *cough*), food, stationary and even transport (hey free Uber!). What's even better is that it's SO easy to sign up - all you need is go to their website here and  sign up using your institution email address (this usually ends in ac.uk and is given to you by your school, college or university). However, if you don't have one of these emails, you can simply send a photograph of your student card proving your a student to help@myunidays.com and they'll get you all set up!

UNiDAYS very kindly sent me a box full of amazing goodies from a selection of their top 50 brands so I can show you guys the kind of discounts you can expect to get access to when you sign up. I was very excited when I opened it and there was definitely a lot of swooning going on - I absolutely love everything and if I'd have been able to get discount on this lot when I was a student, I'd have been in my element. Here's exactly what was in the box I received, what I think of the products and how much discount you can get on them via UNiDAYS!

The first gorgeous gift in my Student Break Box are these fabulous strappy heels from Public Desire. As I'm sure you all know, Public Desire is one of my fave brands for footwear and they're all so affordable too! I think these will look beautiful this Summer - I love the chain detailing! UNiDAYS are currently offering 10% off at Public Desire!

Next up are another two items I was very happy to see in my box - a Glossybox which is a well known monthly subscription beauty box where you get sent a box full of goodies for a small monthly fee (get 30% off your first two boxes with UNiDAYS) and a beautiful Ohh Deer notebook. I first heard of this brand when watching one of Zoella's videos and since then, I've seen them popping up everywhere. This notebook couldn't be more perfect for me - with marble and a hint of Copper, it's the bloggers dream. You can get 10% off via UNiDAYS.

I have to say, this was probably the gift I was most excited about as I've always wanted to book an experience day so this Smartbox by buyagift will be getting used very soon. Experience days are such a great gift option as creating memories with your loved ones is way more valuable that material items, in my opinion. What's even better is that they're always such good value for money and with UNiDAYS you can get an extra 15% off which makes it even better! I just need to decide what to book now - a spa day, a fancy dinner, a helicopter ride?! What would you choose?

Ahhh, clothing. Who doesn't love spending money on new clothes? I have to be honest, that's probably what most of my student loan went on - forget eating, as long as my outfit is on point. HAHA! UNiDAYS kindly included some items from Pretty Little Thing which is one of my favourite online fashion websites and also some work out gear from Myprotein. These were pretty hard to photograph for this post but I have posted a photo of the PLT outfit on my Instagram here and I just love it! I also love the space style print on the Myprotein leggings - they're super comfy too! No excuse to be a lazy student when your gym outfit looks this good! You can get 15% off at PLT and 25% off at My Protein via UNiDAYS - YAY!!

I love anything personalised so this Cambridge Satchel Company leather pouch with K.J printed on it is too cute. I'm going to be using this as a little makeup bag for my handbag but for all you students, wouldn't it make a very stylish pencil case?! Or, you could always combine your pens and lipsticks and keep them all in one handy place? You can get 20% off your order via UNiDAYS.

One brand I was fairly surprised to see in the box because of it's luxury status is Michael Kors. I always presumed student discount sites only offered discounts on high street brands but UNiDAYS offers 10% off at boutique Goldsmiths who stock Michael Kors and other leading designer jewellery. I'm really into wearing silver jewellery at the moment so this dainty little silver bracelet is right up my street.

As a blogger, my iPhone 6 is forever glued to my hand for all those social media updates and on the go emails! With this being said, a cute phone case is essential and this glittery one from Case Mate is too cute! I don't like cases that are too in your face so this one is perfect - it's clear so the colour of my iPhone still shows through with the addition of some glitter, yay! You can get a huge 30% discount on these cases via UNiDAYS.

I'm a big fan of big bouncy curls but it's something I can never get quite right when using my hair straighteners. Whenever I go to the salon they always use a curling tong and it turns out so much nicer than when I do it myself at home. I'm hoping this Babyliss pro tong will help me achieve those salon curls at home! This was kindly sent from Look Fantastic who are one of my favourite sites for all thing beauty - get 10% off everything via UNiDAYS.

I've been trying to get back into healthy eating recently after way too much indulgence at Easter. I've actually gained 1/2 a stone over the past few months which I'm not too happy about so I'm on a mission to get Summer body ready. With this being said, I was very pleased to see some Myprotein products in the box. I'm not entirely sure how to use them but it's something I'll definitely be looking into now I'm back on my healthy eating plan. I know how hard it is to stick to healthy eating whilst at uni too (all those nights out lead to one too many cocktails and pizzas) so it's great that UNiDAYS offer 25% off for students. Also, how cute is the pink shaker? This will be great for drinking healthy smoothies on the go.

I have to say I'm so impressed with the brands and discounts available via UNiDAYS and the selection I've shown you here is only a small amount of the brands and discounts they have to offer. There's literally something for everybody - male or female, no matter what your interests are. As I said earlier, I wish UNiDAYS had been around when I was a student as I'd have been making full use of it. If you're a student and want to sign up, you can do so here - in my opinion, you'd be silly not to!  If you do sign up, let me know what you plan to buy with your new discounts in the comments below - I'd love to know.

P.S - UNiDAYS are giving their users a chance to win one of these amazing boxes so if you want to be in with a chance of winning, be sure to sign up! All details can be found here

I worked with UNiDAYS on this post however all opinions are my own.*

Moddershall Oaks Spa Day Experience

I was recently invited along to Modershall Oaks spa for a lovely day of relaxation and pampering with my lovely Nanna. I'd first heard of the spa through Charlotte from Lurchhound Loves after she recommended it to me on Twitter. After reading her blog post on the experience, I knew I had to pay the spa a visit - it looked beautiful. My Nanna and I were both booked in for the 'Sweet Dependance Day' which includes full use of the spa & relaxation facilities, a treatment of our choice and a 2 course lunch in the beautiful lakeside restaurant. The treatments for this package change regularly but when we went there was a Rose & Raspberry oil back massage available which we both liked the sound of so that's the one we went for.

As I live in Manchester and the spa is based in Stone, somewhere I'd never been before, we did have to travel to get there. However, the journey was so simple - it took about 40 minutes on a train which was very quiet and comfortable and we had a taxi pick us up from the station and take us to the spa. I was a bit concerned it was going to be a bit of a hassle to get there but we thoroughly enjoyed our journey and I'd be more than happy to do it again so if you're based in Manchester or the surrounding towns, I can confirm it's really easy to get to.

We arrived for 9:30am as instructed and were shown to a lovely seating / bar area and given a welcome drink and some forms to fill out by the very welcoming staff members. When that was all done we were given a tour of the spa so we could see what facilities were available for us to use throughout the day. Both my Nanna and I were very impressed with what they had to offer - we've been to a spa together before and as lovely as it was, this was next level. They have everything from an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pool, heated tile loungers, reflexology footpaths, a gym (which we definitely didn't use haha) and a super comfy relaxation area. They also have woodland and parkland surrounding the spa which you can take a stroll around or make use of their tennis courts / equipment or bicycles and cycling  if you'd prefer a more active day. They've literally thought of everything. Not to mention their incredible outdoor heated vitality pool - definitely a highlight of the day for me. More on that later!!

Once we'd got changed into our swimwear and complimentary robes, we headed to the indoor area where we made use of the pool, jacuzzi and heated tile loungers which were the most comfortable things ever. We both felt so relaxed and enjoyed a natter in the jacuzzi. The only thing we weren't too keen on was the footpaths as they were very noisy and other guests looked a bit disgruntled every time someone turned them on which didn't make for the most relaxing experience. However, everything else was perfect! After a little while relaxing, we headed to get our back massage in the treatment rooms. We both thoroughly enjoyed the treatment - it was very relaxing and the staff ensured we felt comfortable throughout. They used all Elemis products too which was nice as I'm sure you all know how much of an Elemis fan I am - their products are my faves!!

We had a little bit more downtime after our treatment so we headed back to the indoor area (we may  have had a little nap as we felt so relaxed haha) before heading for our 2 course lunch in the lakeside restaurant. We went for lunch wearing our robes which felt a little odd but everyone did it and it was a very relaxing way to enjoy a meal I guess. We'd picked what food we wanted at the start of the day from a lovely menu, there was so many yummy sounding dishes. We both got a starter and a main and I went for a prawn cocktail to start and my Nanna chose some little shrimp cakes which we both thoroughly enjoyed. For mains I chose chicken and Spring veg risotto whilst my Nanna went for the mussles. The portion sizes were really generous and it was presented beautifully - it was the kind of food you'd expect in a fancy restaurant. We washed it all down with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which was very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious! The restaurant had big glass windows looking out on the beautiful grounds too, so again, it was a very relaxing experience.

After lunch we decided it was finally time to head to the amazing outdoor heated vitality pool - we'd been eyeing it up all day and I couldn't wait to jump in. It was just as amazing as I thought it was going to be and so relaxing. The water was the perfect temperature and we sat and enjoyed the countryside surroundings while sipping on prosecco. It was pure bliss. There was also a comfortable seating area outside and a big log fire so we managed to nab some seats next to it so we could chill out between dips in the pool.

We decided before going to the spa that we both wanted to have an extra treatment which can be booked on as an extra so we both went for the Indian Head Massage as I've never had one and my Nanna said it's one of her favourite and most relaxing treatments to have. To be honest, we didn't need this extra treatment as there was so much to do anyway but it was blooming lovely and my favourite of the two treatments we had. It cost £35 for 30 minutes but it was worth it, despite coming out looking like we hadn't washed our hair in weeks, haha!!

After our final treatment it was 5pm and time to get ready to go home - the day absolutely flew by. I guess that's what happens when you're having fun! The changing rooms had really big showers with complimentary Elemis shampoo, conditioner and body wash which was nice to have one final pamper with. Overall we had a fantastic day and although this was a free press trip, we'd be more than happy to pay the £89.10 price per person to return to the spa. I've been to spas costing way more than that in the past and they didn't have half the facilities Moddershall Oaks have so I personally think it's a really great price. You can check out their other packages here as there's so many options - I'd love to stay overnight next time as I imagine the hotel rooms are beautiful too.

Do you like the look of Moddershall Oaks spa?!
