Valentine's Day Lookbook with PrettyLittleThing

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and whilst some of you may not be in relationships, there's no denying it's a great excuse to get dressed up, treat yourself to some sexy new lingerie or have a night out on the town with your besties. Valentines Day isn't all about soppy couples & PDA's (not that there's anything wrong with that obviously) after all, it's a day to share the love and have some fun with your girls too which is why PrettyLittleThing have coined the term #Galentines for their Valentine's Day campaign! So wether you're partying with your favourite ladies or dinner dating with your other half, Valentine's is as good an excuse as any to crack open the prosecco!!

I've teamed up with PrettyLittleThing to share some of my fave pieces from their Valentine's Day collection that you can work no matter what the occasion. Date night, mate night or Netflix and chill, I've got you covered!! I personally love getting glammed up for Valentine's day and all the pretty collections that are launched at this time of year. I'm a sucker for lace, cute camis and babein' bodysuits which obviously have Valentine's Day all over them so keep reading to see some of my faves and how I've styled them!!

First up is this cute satin cami dress and I'm so in love with the colour of this. It's a beautiful Lilac shade and has pretty lace detailing around the waist. I think something like this is really cute to lounge around in when you want to make a little bit of extra effort and feel glam rather than wearing your joggers and an oversized jumper. As much as I love to slouch around in my joggers and be comfy, it's not the most glamorous of looks if you're trying to impress your other half. I also love the silky fabric - it's so comfy! Comfort and glamour, what more could you want?!

Next up is this mesh bar with heart detailing which is just the cutest little thing. Yes its more of a risqué look and I was slightly nervous to wear it incase it looked trashy but I actually think it looks really lovely and feminine! It also comes with the matching pants but I wasn't quite willing to bare all for the sake of a blog post - I'm sure you can imagine though. Nothing says Valentine's Day better than hearts so if you're into novelty items (who doesn't love wearing themed underwear - I'm sure we've all got a pair of Christmas knickers or socks in our underwear drawer, haha) then this is the set for you! I'm sure it wouldn't go down too badly with your other half either!

Next up is this stunning mesh embroidered bodysuit. I think this would have to be my favourite item from this whole post as it's so flattering! The embroidery covers where it needs to whilst the rest of the bodysuit is sheer so it's sexy but still classy at the same time. I also love how the embroidery goes right up onto the straps - it has such lovely detailing! This is the kind of item you can wear as lingerie or pair it with a high waisted skirt / trousers for ultimate date night glamour!

Another pretty bodysuit and this time it's a white lace number. I mean it wouldn't be a Valentine's themed cookbook without some lace thrown in there would it? When it comes to underwear, you can't get much sexier than lace so if you really want to impress, this kind of thing is the way to go. I love the eyelash lace detail around the bust and the way it synchs in at the waist - it's so flattering. I've paired it with this satin monochrome kimono which looks super classy and a little diamonte choker here to amp up the glamour even more and I think it's such a sexy yet classy look!!

If you're not planning on doing much this Valentine's day and prefer a chilled evening with your loved ones then you can't go wrong with a loungewear set. Pretty Little Thing recently launched their own sets that are very similar to Calvin Klein for a fraction of the price and I personally can't get enough. Sticking with the Valentine's colour scheme, I obviously went for this cute pale pink set but it's available in lots of other colours too if pink isn't your thing! It's the perfect outfit for Valentine's chills on the sofa in as it's comfortable but still looks sexy and stylish - can't go wrong!! You can get the top here and the leggings here.

The final look is this strappy satin number with lace corset panelling around the waist which is a serious head turner. It'll definitely make your Valentine's Day date hot under the collar or ensure all eyes are on you whilst on the dance floor! You can never go wrong with an LBD for any occasion and corset styles are really on trend right now so you're onto a winner with this dress. It's perfect dress for a girls night out or date night. I've paired it with a diamonte choker here and I'm just completely in love with it - it's the perfect Valentine's Day outfit.

I hope you like these pieces guys and got inspired for some Valentine's Day glam! I've never done a lookbook style post before so let me know if you like it and I'll be sure to do more! Also, if you need even more Valentine's outfit inspo, be sure to check out PrettyLittleThing's Valentine's category here which is full of outfits sure to having you slaying this February 14th! Style | Distressed Knits, Denim & Dreamy Thigh Highs

I recently shot this look with Rebecca Spencer and just had to share some of the images with you guys as I think it's one of my favourite outfits yet! I'm obsessed with jumper dresses, denim jackets and thigh high boots so this outfit combines all of my favourite pieces! The whole look is from Pretty Little Thing who are completely killing it with their new in section at the moment.

I'm loving the whole distressed trend at the moment so when I spotted this cream jumper dress with distressed detailing on their website, it has to be mine. I love the roll neck style and think the neutral colour works so well with the denim jacket and tan thigh highs. I think neutral tones are my absolute favourite colour to wear - they're like black, you just can't go wrong with them and they always look really chic and stylish.

I'm loving the fact denim jackets have made a big comeback recently - I've built up quite the collection of them over the past few months and I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can start wearing them more often. They look great with virtually any outfit and give any look a really cool and effortless vibe.

As for these boots, well where do I start? I love them SO blooming much! I always feel super sassy when I wear thigh high boots as they're such a statement piece. However, I also think they can look really cool and edgy or classy and sophisticated, depending on how you style them. This is obviously a more casual look but they'd also look amazing with a pair of black skinny jeans, a nice blouse and tailored coat for an evening look. I really love the light tan colour too as it makes them that little bit different. To finish the look, I wore my fave Quay Australia x Desi Perkins sunnies. It might be Winter but sunglasses are still an essential accessory to make me look cooler than I really am, haha.

I hope you guys like this look and are enjoying my recent style posts. I've got a couple of shoots over the next couple of weeks so if there's any particular looks you'd like to see me put together or any specific styles, please don't hesitate to let me know in the comments below or tweet me @k_leexjx any time - I always love chatting to yo guys so don't hesitate to get in touch.

Are you a fan of denim jackets, distressed jumpers and thigh high boots?!

Kat Von D's Iconic Beauty Products

Kat Von D Iconic Beauty Products

Until recently, Kat Von D was a brand only available to buy in the US so I'd never had the opportunity to try much of the range other than the Shade & Light palette which has featured in many favourites posts over the past few months (more about why I love it so much later). However, since it launched at Debenhams towards the end of 2016, it's become much more accessible and allowed me to add more of the range to my ever expanding makeup collection. When a US brand launches in the UK, there's always a huge buzz around it and lots of excited beauty bloggers and makeup lovers sharing their thoughts on the products so I thought I'd join in and let you know what I think about some of the most iconic products from the brand and if they're worth adding to your own collection.

I'll get started with the Shade & Light palette as I think it's probably one of Kat's most popular products and one I hear people raving about all the time. I actually bought this from Sephora over a year ago now after trying my younger sisters and loving it. I was completely blown away by the yellow highlight shade (middle of top row) in the palette and how much it brightened up my under eye area so for that shade only, I knew I had to have it. However, since receiving it, I've used virtually all of the shades in the palette and much prefer it over the Anastasia contour kit. All of the shades are matte which makes it great for adding natural looking shadows to the cheekbones and I've even used them as eyeshadows too as the powder is really buttery and easy to blend.

Kat has also designed a brush, the 'Shade & Light contour brush' to go with the contour palette,  so you can get the full Kat Von D contouring and highlighting experience. I wouldn't say this is an essential to use the palette but it is a lovely brush with one end being angled for contouring and the other being tapered for a soft highlight. The bristles are lovely and soft too so it works really well at blending the product into the skin effortlessly. The brush also comes with it's own case which I probably wouldn't use as it seems a bit pointless and probably contributes to it's price more than it should.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks

Another of Kat's most famous products is her Everlasting liquid lipsticks. I've heard a lot of people saying these are better than the Kylie Lip Kits and Anastasia liquid lipsticks so I was excited to give them a try. They come presented in long thin tube and have a doe foot applicator. The shade I have in this post is 'Lolita' which I'd describe as a muted pinky brown shade with hints of purple in in too. The formula of these lipsticks is a wet liquid that dries to a matte opaque finish and they're insanely pigmented. It's also a very long lasting product as the name 'everlasting' would suggest so you can pop this on in the morning and not have to worry about touching it up much throughout the day. I'd have to say I'm not convinced these are any better than the Kylie or Anastasia equivalents as I like them all equally and think they all have a very similar finish and consistency.

Next up is the Tattoo waterproof liquid liner which is another product I've heard so many people raving about. I personally can't go a day without wearing my liquid liner in a cat eye flick - it's a bit of a signature look for me so finding a good one is so important. I really hate liquid liners that come with a brush rather than a pen style applicator so I was really pleased to see this one is in the style of a felt tip pen as they're so much easier to use with this kind of applicator. As well as the foolproof style applicator, this liner has serious pigmentation and staying power. The name 'tattoo' doesn't lie as it really is like having liner tattooed on your skin as this stuff won't shift until its removed with a cleanser. I'd definitely recommend this if you're a lover of liquid liner like I am.

Kat Von D Lipstick Swatches

Finally, we have the Studded Kiss lipsticks in the shades 'Magick' and 'Underage Red'. I haven't heard a huge amount about these lipsticks in comparison to the liquid lipsticks but they're really lovely and definitely worth a try. Just like the liquid lipsticks, these have insane pigmentation. I'm starting to realise that pigmentation is definitely one of the reasons Kat Von D is such a popular brands - the colours are always so vivid and opaque! However, unlike the liquid lipsticks, these have a slight sheen to them rather than being completely matte. The shade 'Magick' is lovely soft rosy pink shade perfect for every day wear and 'Underage Red' is a beautiful blue toned red - the kind of shade that's worn by Kat Von D herself for that classic pin up look.

Have you tried any of Kat Von D's makeup products?! Which of these would you like to try?

Getting Back To Blogging & Goals For 2017

Hey guys! I hope you're all well and had the most amazing Christmas and New Year?! I haven't posted for the past couple of weeks as I wanted to have a really relaxed Christmas with my family after what's been a stressful few months. It's safe to say 2016 wasn't the best year for me personally - it may have looked amazing on my social media what with me moving into a new house, getting a new car and being shortlisted  for a Cosmo blog award (all of those things have been amazing might I add) but towards the end of the year, a close friend of mine lost his battle with cancer and all of a sudden, none of those other things were a priority. It really confirmed to me that spending time with loved ones and taking time off to have that quality time is so important as you just never know what's around the corner. Life can be so cruel which is why it's so important to live it to the full while we can. It also made me appreciate what I have in life and think twice before moaning about irrelevant things - there's always someone with bigger problems.

With this being said, I wanted to write a post about my goals for 2017. I know some people think 'resolutions' are someone cringeworthy but I personally think a new year is the perfect time to set yourself some new goals - its almost like wiping the slate clean and starting with a clean slate. It also gives you something to work towards and the incentive to keep bettering yourself to reach those goals. When you lose someone close to you, it really does put everything into perspective and make you realise that you need to live every day like it's your last so if there's things I want to do, there's no better time than the present to do them. Anyway, before I start rambling - here's a few of my goals for the year ahead.

Walk 10,000 steps a day; this might sound like a random one but since I started working from home, I've realised just how little steps I do on a daily basis. After doing some research, 10,000 steps a day is what we should all be aiming for and my current average is 3,000. I know, so bad! I've definitely noticed weight has started creeping on since I've been less active so I want to nip this in the bud asap and get my walking shoes on. Matt and I went for a walk on Wednesday night so I could up my steps for the day and I actually really enjoyed it - it gave us some quality time together discussing what we'd been up to during the day and a break from social media. What's even better is that it didn't feel like a chore - I actually really enjoyed it. Apparently 10,000 steps burns around 500 calories so if I could do that every day without changing anything else, I'd lose 1 pound a week. It's a no brainer.

Blog three times a week; I'm adding this in as I'd love to get back to blogging three times a week. As I mentioned, the last three months have been very stressful so if I'm honest, blogging hasn't been my top priority and I haven't felt like writing about makeup when there's been much more important things happening in my life. I also had nowhere set up for blog photography until recently as we've only just got our house fully unpacked and all the furniture built. Trust me when I say moving into a house is stressful and was in nowhere near as easy as I expect it to be - look out for blog posts all about my new house and the buying process soon! I keep getting asked about it over on Instagram so don't worry, it's on my to-do list.

See more of the world; Last year was the year of saving money for our mortgage so we didn't get to go away as much as I'd have liked to. I absolutely love visiting different cities and countries so this year, I can't wait to get some trips booked so I can see more of the world. I'm heading to Australia in March to meet up with a friend and see my family who live there so I'm super excited for that and a holiday to Greece is on the cards for June. I'd love to book some more city breaks too - Barcelona, Paris and Rome are at the top of my list. Matt and I decided we'd like to try and visit 30 new cities before we're 30 (3 and a half years to go, eek!) so I'm hoping to get a few ticked off my list this year.

Finish decorating my new house; As I mentioned earlier, buying and decorating a new house is not an easy process - in fact, it's anything but. You don't realise just how much things cost until you're faced with the need to buy them and you certainly can't do everything at once, unless you have a huge disposable income. We've managed to do quite a lot with our house since October and it's now in a liveable state with all the essentials but there's still so much more I want to do with it and by the end of 2017, I'd love to have it all finished and exactly how I want it. I'm most excited for Spring time so we can design our garden and host the most epic BBQ for all our friends and family!!

Do more charity work; When my friend was diagnosed with cancer last year, all of his friends and family, myself included, have done all we can to raise money for the charities that helped him throughout his illness. We've hosted various charity events and in 2017 I'm planning to run over 40 miles to raise money for Christies and Macmillan. I know it's going to really tough but knowing I can raise money for such a good cause and one close to my heart will give me all the motivation I need. I'd love to do more for charities this year and help those in need - it's such a rewarding feeling knowing you're giving back and as someone with a large social media following, I'd love to put that into helping others.

I hope you enjoyed this post guys and I promise my blogging will become more regular again very soon. Bare with me! I'd love to hear what your goals are for the new year so let me know in the comments below. Ps - if you like what I'm wearing in this post, head to my Instagram @kayleighjcouture to find out where the items are from.
