Cellfina - A treatment for cellulite that actually works? My Results

If you follow me on instagram (@kayleighjcouture), you may remember me posting about a treatment called ‘Cellfina’ I was heading for at KLNIK - a state of the art clinic offering a whole range of innovative treatments in Wilmslow.

Now before I get started, I want to do a little disclaimer. I know I shouldn’t have to but I know any kind of treatment that involves changing ones appearance in some way can attract some negativity. Please be aware before reading this post that I’m not in any way saying that cellulite is something we need to be embarrassed about - most of us have it. In fact, it’s been proven that 85% of women between the ages of 25-60 have cellulite so it’s certainly not something we should feel ashamed of. However, it is something that can leave us lacking in confidence when wearing swimwear or short skirts and shorts in the Summer months. Cellulite is something women of all shapes and sizes suffer with, and although there’s many lotions and potions out there claiming to reduce the appearance of cellulite, they’re usually a gimmick and don’t provide any real results. Trust me, I’ve tried most of them, with little success.

Before the treatment
For me personally, cellulite is something I’ve always had – predominantly on the back of my legs and bum, and no matter how much exercise I did or how healthily I ate, it was always there. It wasn’t something that made me feel terrible about myself, but doing the job I do means I’m often in bikinis or having photos of myself taken. In those situations, it's something that bothered me.

With this being said, when I was contacted about an innovative new treatment that is said to significantly reduce the appearance of cellulite, it caught my attention. This new FDA approved treatment is called Cellfina (https://cellfina.co.uk/) and is minimally invasive and involves minimal pain, meaning you can go about your day as normal afterwards. The treatment itself also only takes 45-60 minutes and results can be seen in as little as 14 days. Sounds too good to be true right? Well actually it isn’t, and unlike other cellulite treatments that claim to reduce it’s appearance, Cellfina treats the root cause of cellulite and therefore alleviates it completely.

Now you’re probably wondering what’s involved - how do they do it, does it hurt and who is eligible to get this treatment done. Well, without getting too scientific and confusing you all, Cellfina technology is based on a procedure called subcision and uses a device the size of a needle to break up the connective bands just under the skin’s surface. These connective bands (medically known as ‘fibrous septae’) are woven through fat which pull down the skin, creating a dimpled effect on the surface, which we know as cellulite. Cellfina precisely targets these tethered bands, causing them to fully release. Similar to a rubber band under tension, once released, the treated skin bounces back to become smoother - hence the reduction in those dimples known as cellulite.

Prior to the treatment, I went to aesthetic and wellness clinic, KLNIK to meet with Cellfina clinician Dr. Rosh for a consultation to ensure I was an ideal candidate for the procedure. To find out if I was eligible for Cellfina, I was asked to fill out various medical questionnaires and also one about my mental wellbeing. This is something I loved about KLNIK - they talked everything through with me and asked why I wanted to have the treatment, to ensure I wasn’t doing it for the wrong reasons. After lots of chatting, it was time for Dr. Rosh to actually look at the area to ensure I had enough cellulite dimples to be treated. Cellfina is suitable for those who have cellulite dimples on their bum and/or thighs, between the ages of 25-60 and with a BMI of under 35. Now I knew my BMI was way lower than this and that I did have cellulite dimples, but having next inspected it closely myself I wasn’t sure if it would be severe enough for me to get the treatment. Thankfully Dr. Rosh informed me that my cellulite dimples were treatable, and whilst not severe, he assured me that I’d still get significant improvement and the results I was hoping for. Once confirmed, I booked in to come back to KLNIK for the actual Cellfina treatment two weeks later, which meant I would be treated in plenty of time for my trip to Ibiza!

I must admit, when I first heard there would be a needle-like device (officially known as a microblade), involved I panicked. I thought it was going to be really painful, and as someone who virtually passes out every time I get my blood taken, I did question if this treatment was for me. However, before the procedure began, they reassured me that the area would be numbed with local anaesthetic and that I wouldn’t feel much, other than the initial needle to numb to the area. I felt better after being told this and got myself prepared for the treatment. They gave me a paper thong to put on (much like those you get when having a spray tan) and I was then asked to stand so that Dr. Rosh could use a marker to identify exactly where the cellulite dimples were, and the areas they would be treating. After this, it was time to lay face down on the bed and get going with the procedure. With great relief, they were totally right about the level of pain and, other than some slight discomfort (let’s say a 3 on a scale of 1-10), I could barely feel a thing. I was actually lying on the bed chatting away to the nurse about my wedding plans while the procedure was being performed - it didn’t feel scary at all. When they said ‘we’re almost done’ I was totally surprised as it went by so quickly- it seemed like they’d only just started!

When the treatment was finished, the area was cleaned by the clinician and I was asked to step off the bed whilst the nurses popped some bandages on and compression garments to help with any swelling or bruising. As you can see from the photo I’ve included, there was a LOT of padding -I could have given Kimmy K a run for her money haha. The reason bandages are added is because you can expect some fluids to come from the treated areas in the first 24 hours after treatment, so this is to soak them up and ensure you don’t wake up fearing you’ve wet the bed! As I said, the compression garments are to help the swelling and bruising and I was advised to keep these on for a few days following the treatments and as often as I could for up to two weeks after. They do feel slightly odd at first, but I soon got used to them.

In terms of side effects and healing time, I was a bit tender in the treated area for a few days after the treatment, but it wasn’t anything unbearable and I could continue with my normal day to day life. I was back in work the next day so there was no down time at all. I kept the compression garments on for as long as I could (for around 3-4 days), only taking them off when needing to shower. The bruising did develop significantly around one week after the treatment, however it’s probably worth me noting that I do bruise really easily anyway so I was expecting to have a lot of bruising. As with all bruises, they fade in time, and I’m now at a stage where there’s only a few marks remaining. In a few more weeks, these should be gone completely.

After (there's still a slight bit of bruising which will improve over time)
In regards to my results from Cellfina, I’m thrilled! I can see a noticeable improvement in the appearance of my skin, and studies have shown the results get better with time. I recently went to Ibiza and have never felt more confident in my swimwear. I’ve been working out a lot recently, so this combined with the Cellfina treatment have given me so much more confidence in myself. As I said at the start of the post, there’s nothing wrong with cellulite and the majority of women have it, but for those of you who feel it’s an issue for you and your confidence, Cellfina is life changing! Prices start at £2,500 depending on the person and is available at Cellfina accredited clinics nationwide (see https://cellfina.co.uk/find-a-clinic-2). This may seem pricey but with proven long-lasting results (maintained at 3 years), this treatment isn’t a gimmick – and is the only clinically effective option to alleviate cellulite that provides real results, boosting body confidence and helping women to feel their absolute best.

A Fun Day in London with DayBreakHotels

I was recently contacted by DayBreakHotels about trying out one of their new DayBreak rooms in London. As I’m sure you all know, I’m constantly heading to London for shoots or events so when I heard about this new concept, I thought it was an absolutely genius idea. If you’re a fellow blogger, I’m sure you can appreciate just how annoying it can be to be walking around all day with multiple outfit changes and needing to use random coffee shops to change in. Having a base for the day where you can change, freshen up and nap (who doesn’t love a power nap?!) is SO ideal and quite frankly a bit of a game changer.

Even if blogging isn’t your thing and you don’t need somewhere to do approximately 10 outfit changes in one day (seriously, no exaggeration), this is still such a useful service to have access too. DayBreakHotels seeks to shine a new spotlight on day-rooms and services in day use hotels at amazing rates. The concept aims to overcome the idea of hotels and motels by the hour by completely revolutionizing their use. If you’re someone who is often travelling for business and has lots of time waiting around between meetings or flights, what better way to spend your time than lounging around in a plush hotel room for a few hours using your own personal coffee machine. Beats sitting in a crowded coffee shop if you ask me?!

As I mentioned earlier, I recently gave the service a try for myself and honestly I was SO impressed. Myself and my friend Victoria had been to an event in London the night before and the following day we had a whole day to kill before our trains home that evening so this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. We decided to start the day with brunch because lets face it, London is full of the most amazing brunch spots and if I could spend a whole day eating my way around them all, I probably would. We decided on a new place called Drunch which is situated just off Oxford road - the perfect location to take a break after shopping, another of London’s top attractions.

After brunchin’ and browsing the shops in Mayfair (again, this was only a short tube ride away), we checked in to the beautiful St.Ermin’s hotel, one of the DayBreakHotels partners, for an afternoon of wining and dining in the sunshine. Seriously, what better way to spend the day? We arrived at Westminster tube station and walked a short distance to the hotel where we were greeted by the most welcoming staff and checked in to our day use room. We’d been shooting images all morning and doing lots of walking so were ready for a break and honestly, I couldn’t fault the room. The bed was so comfortable and the decor had a really homely and comforting feel to it. There was tea and coffee making facilities available, a lounge area with huge TV on the wall and a bathroom with all the essentials. Basically everything we could need for an afternoon freshen up was there. We crashed onto the sofa as soon as we arrived and it was so nice to get comfy and have some down time during a pretty hectic day.

After some chill time we headed to the hotels beautiful restaurant to enjoy lunch and a few cocktails. I opted for the lobster with garlic butter which was absolutely divine! The food, drinks an service were absolutely impeccable and we felt so spoilt. After lunch we headed to the hotels roof terrace bar as the weather in London was glorious so it was nice to sit outside with a drink. Again, I can’t fault anything about our experience at the hotel and it truly was the perfect way to spend a day in London.

Wether you’re looking for somewhere to relax for a few hours in a beautiful room, take a dip in a hotel pool, spend an afternoon getting pampered in a hotel spa or just enjoy a beautiful meal and drinks, all whilst having a base to drop off your belongings and freshen up, I can’t recommend DayBreakHotels enough. Not to mention they’re available at amazing rates so it won’t damage your bank balance too much. Win win!

Do you like the sound of this concept? How would you spend your day at a DayBreakHotels? Let me know in the comments section below.

Taking Outfits to the next level with Wonderbra | Before & After

For me, and probably the good majority of women, the right underwear is key when putting an outfit together. Whenever I'm shopping (which is quite often, let's be honest, oops!), I always think about the underwear needed to wear the pieces before I buy it and quite often, it's the make or break between buying and removing it form my virtual shopping basket. A bra has got to be the right texture, colour and style to compliment my outfit or it's a no-no. Nobody wants a black bra showing through a white top, a textured fabric making their new dress look lumpy or unsightly straps on show with their new bandeau. That’s why Wonderbra should be an essential in your underwear drawer.

Wonderbra are all about making women of all shapes and sizes feel sexy, fabulous and confident in the clothes they're wearing and I'm all for spreading this message too as we all deserve to feel fabulous! Even in your most daring and unique outfits, Wonderbra have designed pieces that will be your best friend and ensure you're rocking any outfit with the support and comfort you need! It’s all about finding those key pieces that will take that babein' new outfit to the next level and compliment our bodies.

I was recently sent some of Wonderbra's key styles and have been completely blown away by how amazing they are. How have I got by thus far without them?! I've been trying out the Ultimate Strapless (Nude), Ultimate Full Effect (Black) and the Ultimate Plunge (Nude) styles and they're all bloomin' brilliant. Firstly, the quality is second to none and in my opinion, good quality underwear is seriously underrated. If it's something you wear every day, it's worth investing in. At first touch you can tell that they’re well made, sturdy and are going to give the lady lumps all the support they need. Secondly, I love that the smooth and seam free fabric help give us that flawless silhouette I talked about earlier. Think t-shirt bra but so much better. Pretty lace bras are lovely and all but they're not ideal when you want to wear a figure hugging dress and you can see the fabric underneath. Ain't nobody got time for that!

I'm pretty sure there isn't a single outfit you can't wear them with either. How many times have you bought a new outfit and then thought 'damn, how am I going to wear a bra with this' - I know I've done it myself way too many times. However, with Wonderbra, there's so many styles that there really is no outfit that's off limits. Take the Ultimate Plunge for example. I'm a big fan of a plunging dress or bodysuit but it's not something you can wear with a bra as the strap would be on show. Now if you're a big boobed girly or just a little bit self conscious about going braless then you'd probably avoid these styles all together but with the Ultimate Plunge you can rock your plunging pieces without a worry.

As you can see in my before and after photos, these bras also make a huge difference to the cleavage. I'm pretty sure my boobs look at least 2-3 times bigger in the after photos - crazy or what?! I'm a size 32DD so my boobs certainly aren't small to begin with but the difference this bra makes is insane so if you are a small boobed gal and want a boost, these bras work a treat. I've popped some before and after photos below where I'm wearing a normal bra and then the Wonderbra bra's - as you see, they make a huge difference to the size and shape of  of my cleavage. I'm so impressed!

Make sure you check them out for yourselves girls, they're all linked on the above product names. For reference, I'm wearing the Ultimate Full Effect (Black) on the images below.

Spring Styling with House Of Fraser

I don’t know about you guys but I am so ready for some nice weather here in UK now. That little taste of sunshine we had a couple of weeks ago was so lovely but in typical UK style, it didn’t stick around for too long! Please come back soon sunshine, I miss you!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been adding lots of new pieces to my Spring wardrobe and I just cannot wait until I can ditch the knitwear, chunky coats and boots. As much as I love all of those items and getting wrapped up warm, I am so ready for floaty dresses, denim skirt and lightweight coats.

A couple of pieces I’ve recently added to my wardrobe are from House of Fraser who I must say have the most amazing range on their website at the moment. I’ll be honest, it’s a place I often forget about when online shopping but since having a browse recently, I’ll be ordering from them a lot more often!
I picked up this beautiful floaty floral dress by Oasis and I’m so so so in love with it. Everything about it screams Spring from the beautiful floaty fabric to the pastel colours and the floral print. Not to mention I loved swishing around in it - I felt all kinds of lady like!

I just know I’m going to get so much wear out of it as it’s the perfect style for so many different occasions. I have quite a lot of christenings and weddings that it’d be perfect for dressed up with heels a clutch but it can also be dressed down with sandals and a big pair of sunnies for BBQ’s or a day out. I’m also thinking it would be a great dress for the races paired with a fascinator.

Alongside the dress I also got this amazing trench coat from HOF's huge selection of coats and jackets. I don't know about you but I personally find it really difficult to find a suitable jacket for Spring time. Other than denim jackets which don't always go with every outfit, I really struggle finding something I can wear with virtually any outfit that's lightweight enough to keep me cool when the weather warms up but something that will also keep me warm in the evenings when the temperature drops. Does anyone else understand the struggle?! Well, I may have found the answer - a duster jacket.

I’ve seen a few people wearing this style of jacket recently and I've always been a fan of how they look but have never come across one I loved enough to justify a purchase - until now at least. This Navy duster from the brand Mint Velvet is absolutely perfect in every way. Firstly I love that it's a colour that will go with everything, secondly it's insanely comfortable (seriously the most lovely soft fabric) and thirdly it's super flattering. It's a great length as it can be worn over pretty much any outfit including midi dresses like the one in this post and the tie waist synches you in creating a lovely silhouette. It reminds me of the kind of jacket you'd see Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle wear - super chic and classy, if I do say so myself!

Also, to all you fellow bloggers out there - one of these jackets will be an absolute life saver when shooting street style outfits. There's been so many occasions when I've had to shoot a more dressed up outfit in the middle of the day and have felt a right idiot walking around in a mini dress and heels with no appropriate jacket to cover myself up. However, this one is a dream because you can pop it over anything and you can instantly go from dressed up to the nines to day time chic in a matter of seconds, haha! The small things!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Are you loving shopping for Spring pieces at the moment? I'd love to hear what you've been buying in the comments below!

Current Beauty Faves | My Fave Tan & A Supermodel Glow?!

Hey guys! I’m back! Yes, I’m actually blogging after a good few months away. I know, I know, I’m a bad blogger. I’ll get into why I’ve taken a break in another post as it could be a long one. But the short version is basically this: my mental health hasn’t been the best recently and I haven’t been in the right frame of mind to sit down and type blog posts. Truth be told, I lost all passion and motivation. I’ve barely managed to keep on top of my social media feeds of late, let alone anything else. The whole thins has been making me seriously stressed all of a sudden and it’s something I’m currently trying to get under control. A blogging mid-life crisis if you will.

I’m determined to get back on it starting from now and get that passion for writing back. I’ve just got myself a new laptop (only went a spilt a pint of water on my previous one - school boy error!), shot some new blog imagery and am feeling inspired. If there’s anything specific you’d like me to write about, please let me know in the comments section or tweet / DM me! Anyway, what better way to get back to it than sharing some of my current faves. I’m always getting asked what I use and what my fave beauty items are via Instagram, so I hope you find this useful!

Carita Ideal Hydration Lagoon Cream - I recently had a facial at Rudding Park Spa in Harrogate and the lady used this brand of skincare products. She gave me some mini samples to take away and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this moisturiser. It has what I’d describe as a gel/jelly like consistency and is so refreshing and lightweight on the skin. It almost reminds me of an after sun and even has a similar pale green colouring. The only way I can describe it is super refreshing but also really moisturising. It contains noni extract, a Tahitian fruit known for its revitalising properties and helps to energise the skin and reinforce its natural defence system. The skin is firmer, more supple and radiant.

Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body - This product is an absolute GAME CHANGER. I get a lot of questions on Instagram about how I get my skin to look glowy in my photos and this is the secret. Yep, it’s not a natural glow, unfortunately, haha. This is basically a liquid highlight for the skin and when applied it creates such a beautiful golden glow. It’s not shimmery or sparkly which can look really unnatural but instead gives the skin a gorgeous metallic sheen when the light hits it. I literally plaster myself in this stuff before a night out or when I’m shooting photos for Instagram as it makes such a huge difference. Not the cheapest product out there but definitely the best I’ve tried! This mini bottle has lasted me months so I can only imagine how long the full size would last. I’m actually going to purchase the full size this week as I can no longer be without it!

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt cologne - I’m a huge fan of Jo Malone fragrances and if they weren’t so expensive I’d probably wear a different one every day of the week (the dream!). I usually get a new bottle form family or Matt at Christmas as a treat and this year I got the Wood Sage & Sea Salt scent which I’ve totally fallen in love with. It’s a fresh but also woody/earthy scent making it perfect for both day or night. It's one of those good all round scents! I'm useless at describing fragrance so go give it a sniff next time you're passing a Jo Malone store.

OGX Damage Remedy + Coconut Miracle Oil - Hair oil is a staple in my hair care routine and I never blow dry my hair without slathering the ends in an oil first. As well as protecting the hair from heat and damage, I find it helps make it look ten times smoother and more shiny. I sometimes like to use it between washes too when my hair is starting to look a bit dull - it seems to bring it back to life!

Loving Tan Bronze Body Shimmer - this is my favourite tanning brand, hands down. I’ve been using their products for a year or so now and their dark mousse is just the best for a deep, golden glow. This body shimmer is a more recent discovery but I absolutely love it. It’s perfect when you want to top your tan up before a night out and also give your skin a bit of a glow/shimmer. I often get asked what tan I use on Instagram so here you go - this is my secret to a year round tan!

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - I decided to buy a new bottle of this after not using it for a few months and I’ve realised just how much I love it. It gives great coverage, has a lovely finish (fairly matte but not drying) and is really long lasting. I’m currently using the shade Punjab which is a perfect match when I’m tanned (from the bottle unfortunately - I need a holiday and some natural glow asap!) and I use the shade Fiji for those ‘I can’t be bothered putting fake tan on’ paler days. Hehe! I also have combination skin and this works really well for me - I don’t find it too oily or drying so it’s a good all rounder I’d say.

Buxom Lip glosses - I can’t even tell you how much I love these glosses. If you want something that’s going to plump your lips, have amazing pigmentation and insane gloss - these are for you. They do feel a bit tingly on the lips because of the plumping action but it’s not an uncomfortable feeling at all. I have one of these in my bag at all times at the moment, I can’t be without them!

Cover FX Custom Blending brush - I got this brush in a goody bag at a Beauty Bay event and it’s become my go-to for applying liquid foundation. It has a really dense bristles (99,000 of them are packed in there apparently) and a slightly rounded top meaning it gets into all the nooks and crannies of your face and blends foundation like an absolute dream.

Charlotte Tilbury 'First Love' blush - When it comes to blush, I go through serious phases. I can go months without wearing it and then other times I don’t feel like my makeup routine is complete without it. I’ve been using this Charlotte Tilbury blush in the shade ‘ ‘ recently and I feel like it’s the perfect shade to add another dimension to my skin and gives my makeup a more polished and put together look - if that makes any sense? I think the main thing I dislike about blush is that it can often look very obvious that someone is wearing it - think bright pinks or corals. However, this shade is really lovely - it’s a pale brown toned pink shade and looks super natural on the skin. Definitely one to check out if you’re a bit scared of blush like me!

YSL ‘All Hours’ compact powder foundation - I’m not a big fan of powder foundations and would never use powder over a liquid, ever. I don’t think the coverage is comparable and you don’t get that same dewy glow that a liquid can provide. However, one thing that powder foundations are great for is setting liquid foundation. That may sound like a lotta foundation going on but trust me on this one. If you want your base to look extra flawless, powder foundation has a bit more coverage and longevity than your standard setting powder. I’ve been using this YSL one to set my foundation with  for nights out when I want a super full coverage look and it’s fabulous. As the name All Hours would suggest, it's really long lasting and keeps my makeup in place the whole night as well as adding a smooth flawless finish.

I hope you enjoyed this little round up of my fave products guys! Please let me know what else you'd like to see from me as I'm always open to suggestions and want to write about the topics you guys are interested in. Feel free to drop me a DM on my social channels any time! PS - all of these items are linked, just click on the name of them to be taken directly to the retailers websites for more info.
